The benefits of joining the Fenwick swim team include:

- a fun and healthy summer activity;
- teaches water safety through improved swimming skills;
- meet new friends who live in the neighborhood;
- learn from some of the area’s top senior-level swimmers;
- try a new sport in a relaxed atmosphere;
- gives youth of all abilities the chance to join, as many kids have very little swimming experience;
- gives older athletes a sport to cross-train as they stay in shape for their school sports.

WHO: All swimmers ages 5-18. Fenwick residents ONLY.
** If you are unsure your little swimmer is ready for swim team, please contact us to set up an evaluation day.
COST: 2 options

- OPTION 1 – $210 includes lessons, 1 pair of goggles, 1 swim cap, 1 swimsuit. Please include suit size on registration form. Must be registered & order placed by May 17.
- OPTION 2 – $145 includes lessons only.
You supply your own goggles and swimsuit (black sport suit, any brand).
The swimcap has the team name, so notify Meredith Hines (see below) if you need one. Cost: $5. The swim cap is required for the all-city meet.

REGISTRATION: Enrollment is coordinated through the King Marlin’s Swim Club, which hires the coaches. Please register ASAP so we determine the number of coaches needed as early as possible.
PRACTICES: The season will begin Tues. May 27 and end July 12. Swimmers are not obligated to attend all practices. Choose what works best for your schedule. The more you attend, the more improvement you will see.

- Monday 7 p.m.-8 p.m. (beginner swimmers); 8 p.m.-9 p.m. (intermediate/advanced)
- Tuesday 8 a.m.-9 a.m. (beginner swimmers); 9 a.m.-10 a.m. (intermediate/advanced)
- Wednesday 8 p.m.-9 p.m. (all swimmers)
- Thursday 9 a.m.-10 a.m. (all swimmers)

MEETS are usually held every week on Monday evenings or Saturday mornings. The big All-City meet is usually held the week of July 6, but the final schedule has not yet been released.
Swimmers must be able to do the following:

- Put their whole head underwater.
- Know the basic breathing and blowing bubbles of swimming.
- Swim at least half the Fenwick Pool unassisted.
- They do not need to know every stroke but should know the basics of Freestyle.

Parents Should Know:

- Swim team and swim lessons are not the same. This is not individual instruction.
- Coaches move around the pool, therefore child needs basic swimming skills.
- If parent is uncertain if their child is ready for swim team, an evaluation day can be scheduled.
